all figural images on this site were posed by ordinary people with busy lives and regular jobs. many had never modeled before or had done it just a few times. some don't mind being recognized in photographs. for others i've blacked out sections of negatives and destroyed records to ensure total privacy.

frequently asked questions about modeling
i don't "look like a model": can i still be in pictures?
certainly. i select particular looks for particular pictures, but all kinds of people do model for me. if you're here because i asked you to pose for me and gave you my card, i most definitely want to work with you. but even if you've never met me, feel free to send me an inquiry.
do i have to take my clothes off?
probably, but not unless you've agreed before you arrive at the photo shoot to pose nude or semi-nude. i sometimes use clothed models, and i will not put you on the spot by asking you to remove clothing if you did not agree to do so before you arrived at the shoot. if you're unsure and want to see whether you like being in front of the camera, i may be willing to do a short "trial" photo shoot with you fully clothed. if you decide after that you'd rather not pose nude, that's okay.
won't everyone recognize me?
no one will recognize you if you ask that i not show recognizable features. not only can i keep your face out of the photo, i've also obscured tattoos, piercings, scars, etc, to ensure models' privacy. if you want to remain completely anonymous, i'll make sure no one, not even your spouse or lover will recognize you in a picture. if necessary, i will black out identifying sections of all negatives and destroy all record of your participation in the photo shoot. your privacy is very, very important to me.
will other people be there?
not if you don't want them there. i don't allow spectators, and you will pose with other models only if you have agreed to do so before the day of the shoot. when i pose models together, i do not combine male and female models unless i know all models beforehand and am certain of their professionalism. if you are the only model at a shoot, you may bring a friend. it is possible that i will have an assistant helping me, but I will tell you about this before the day of the shoot. tell me then if you prefer no assistant be present.
what's modeling like?
mostly it's relaxing. and most people enjoy the attention and the compliments. photo shoots take about three hours, and you will pose for about half that time, with regular breaks. i supply drinks and snacks and play your choice of music. i like my models to feel comfortable while modeling and to leave feeling they had a good time.
i get to see the pictures, right?
yes. currently, all models get copies of contact sheets for all rolls they appear in. this way, you have a complete record of every shot i take of you. if there are privacy issues about certain negatives, i alter those negatives before making contact sheets, so no one has any recognizable image of a model who prefers to remain anonymous.
can i have any picture of yours i want?
possibly. currently, i offer models these choices:
- one finished proof of a final gallery print.
- -OR- two 8x10 straight prints of any shots taken at that session.
- -OR- one roll shot with the film, lighting, and poses of your choice.
however, feel free to negotiate with me: if you have a look i really want, i may be willing to bargain.
do you use paid models?
rarely. mostly i work with people who have regular jobs and who simply enjoy modeling for an artist. if you're looking for paid gigs, i'm probably not a good prospect. sorry.
can you give me some references?
maybe. though some models would let me give you their names, remember that i'm protecting all my models' privacy, so I prefer to help you feel comfortable in some other way. if you're interested but unsure, we can talk on the phone, or i can meet you for coffee. i may offer to do a fully clothed shoot to give you a sense of what modeling is like. if you decide after that you'd rather not pose nude, that's okay.
where in the world are you and do you travel?
i live in cincinnati. it's unlikely i'd travel more than an hour or two for a shoot unless you're commissioning me and paying expenses. but everything's negotiable, so try me.
